Sigma Precision Components is once again partnering with 40tude to offer its employees the chance to get tested for colon cancer.

Sigma was one of the first companies to implement 40tude’s new Half:Time Test Campaign, developed in response to the alarming increase in colon cancer cases in the under 50s.

The NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme is proven to reduce colon cancer incidence, however more than 30% of people do not take up testing when it is offered to them (from the age of 50).  If this type of cancer is found early however, it can be successfully treated.

In 2025 40tude launched its new initiative to enable more people to get tested at the mid-point of their lives.  The campaign also aims to raise awareness of colon cancer symptoms, so more people know to report these to their doctor without delay, regardless of their age.

For the second year, Sigma is offering its employees in their mid-40s the opportunity to take a qFIT test.

The qFIT (Quantitative Faecal Immunochemical Test) checks for tiny traces of hidden blood in stool. It’s a simple, at‑home test: collect a small sample, post it to the lab, and receive results directly. For this initiative, 40tude has partnered with Selph, a trusted provider of at‑home health testing.

“Sigma was very pleased to adopt this innovative programme, as part of our employee welfare and workplace health initiatives in 2025,” says Aimee Kensington, HR Manager of Sigma Precision Components.

"The scheme was very well-received last year, and based on this success we’re delighted to be partnering with 40tude once again to offer our staff the chance to get tested for colon cancer in 2026.  It’s really important that everyone is aware of colon cancer, its symptoms and how to get tested from your mid-40s.  Early diagnosis can save lives.”
