Our News Our Japan Challenge team are making excellent progress! Well done to our team, led by Gregor Townsend and Zoe Smith, who are acing our Tom Smith Ginza Challenge in Japan. On their very first day of trekking they achieved a daunting climb of the Kassen Ridge, ascending 1,300m over 6.5km and reached the summit of Mount Tsubakaro at 2,763m. On Day 2 they bravely tackled some technical sections and scrambled a great deal on what will be their longest day in the Japanese Alps. They also made it to the highest point, summitting Mount Otensho at 2,922m. Day 3 included a steep and rocky climb to the top of Mt. Jonen (2,857m) on a day of demanding ascents and descents featuring steps and ladders. Why are they doing this? To raise awareness of the importance of getting screened for colon cancer, and to raise £100,000 to establish the Tom Smith Screening Fund, to fund screening for men and women aged 35-50. Colon cancer can be prevented if it is detected through regular screening – see more here Well done to everyone in the team, we are very proud of you!
